The Opportunity

Help us shape the future direction of our technology capabilities and platform evolution

We are seeking an exceptional Head of Engineering to lead our technology engineering teams across one of our core platforms. This senior leadership position will be accountable for driving technology excellence and building high-performing engineering teams. You will play a pivotal role in modernising our technology estate, ensuring platform stability and resilience, and delivering strategic initiatives that align with our ambitious growth plans.

This role requires a seasoned technology leader, ideally with proven experience in wealth management or financial services platforms, strong stakeholder management capabilities, and a track record of delivering complex change programmes at scale.

What You Will Get To Do:

  • Lead and line manage the engineering function
  • Build, develop, and inspire high-performing engineering teams, including onshore and offshore delivery capabilities
  • Establish and maintain robust governance frameworks, delivery assurance processes, and risk and controls management across all technology initiatives
  • Partner with key technology vendors and third-party suppliers, managing outsourcing relationships, contract negotiations, and service level agreements
  • Engage and influence senior stakeholders, including C-suite, board members, external customers, and strategic partners
  • Champion appropriate agile and waterfall methodologies, implementing best practices in change management and continuous improvement
  • Drive DevOps transformation and modern CI/CD practices to enhance deployment frequency and system reliability
  • If required, represent the technology function at board and executive forums, providing strategic insights and delivery updates

What You Will Bring:

  • Demonstrable experience in technology delivery, including leadership roles with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Experience managing large-scale technology transformation programmes
  • Strong expertise in both agile and waterfall programme and portfolio management methodologies
  • Demonstrable success in building and scaling engineering teams, including onshore and offshore delivery models
  • Proven ability to manage outsourcing relationships and third-party technology partnerships
  • Expert-level stakeholder management skills with experience engaging C-suite executives, board members, and external customers
  • Strong commercial acumen, including contract negotiation, budget ownership, and P&L management
  • Experience leading major technology initiatives such as cloud migrations (AWS, Azure), platform upgrades, and infrastructure modernisation
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity, resilience, risk management, and regulatory compliance frameworks
  • Track record of delivering measurable business outcomes through technology, including platform growth, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction improvements
  • Strong technical foundation with understanding of modern technology stacks, architectures, and engineering practices
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Proven track record leading technology teams in wealth management platforms, financial services, or fintech environments (financial services experience highly desirable but not mandatory)
  • Understanding of investment platform operations, including support, change management, incident management, and service operations
  • Experience designing and implementing PMO functions, governance frameworks, and delivery assurance processes

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent professional experience) preferred
  • Additional certifications in agile delivery (SAFe, Scrum Master, etc.) are highly valued
