QA Operator (Cable Testing Operator)
[Desired start date]  June 2025
[Particularities of this position]

  • This position will be required to take long-term skill training
    after joining us. 
  • The training will be maxmum 6 months in our mother factory
    in Japan.
  • The salary package will be an annual salary at the start of
    employment, but once the new facility is operational,
    the salary structure will be based on work shifts.
Role Purpose
  Carrying out Cable tests, and education for other operators
MAKING PLAN, INSTRUCTION, AND DOCUMENTATION FOR THE TESTS
    Key Accountabilities
  • Setting up test equipment and systems for actual testing
  • Carrying out tests
  • Accuracy control of testing equipment
  • Planning, instructions and documentation of tests
    (electrical & physical characteristics, outer inspection etc.)
  • Create test record, checking the record, and evaluation
  • Preparation and documentation of testing (inspection) reports
  • Attending to external calibration and testing activity
  • Monitoring status of warranted calibrations of test equipment
  • Assesses calibration plan of test equipment
  • Regularly monitors status condition of test equipment
  • Ensuring system processes to ISO 9001 standards
  • Documentation of test procedures together with engineers
  • Following compliance of general safety rules
  • Creating required safety measures to specific areas
      
Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Experience [Required]
  • Ability to organize testing plan and procedures
  • Supervisory skills pertaining to field
  • Ability of handling multi tasks / activities

  • Experienced of using electrical and power cable test instruments
  • Experienced of manufacturing of EH & EHV power cable
  • Having knowledge of international standards concerning of power cables
  • Having UK Forklift driving license
  • Having Crane operation experience 
  About our project in Port of Nigg, Highland Sumitomo Electric is one of the leading global manufacturers of state-of-the-art high-end electricity transmission cables, up to and including 525kV HVDC(High Voltage Direct Current) cable.
The new factory at Nigg, with investment value announced by the Scottish Government of £350M, will make a significant contribution towards realisation of the UK Net Zero Target by contributing to critical electricity transmission infrastructure to connect and deliver renewable energy, including offshore wind, to UK consumers and beyond.  In addition, the factory will create more than 150 highly skilled jobs in the Scottish Highlands, with maximum utilisation of the local supply chain for production of cables and construction of transmission cable systems. In a significant boost for the UK green energy supply chain, Sumitomo Electric has commenced construction of its state-of-the-art subsea transmission cable factory in the Scottish Highlands.
