Edinburgh, Edinburgh, United Kingdom IC Resources Full time £80,000 - £120,000 per year

Role Overview
I am seeking an experienced Verification Lead to take ownership of ASIC/SoC verification activities and act as the primary technical interface with third-party customers. This dual-role position requires both deep verification expertise and strong customer communication skills. You will lead verification planning and execution, manage a small verification team, and ensure that customer requirements are accurately captured, understood, and delivered.

You will join a fast-growing start-up who are now publicly listed as they build the first space-based cellular broadband network designed to be accessible directly by standard mobile phones. They are a fast-growing, innovation-driven team working at the forefront of telecommunications and space technology, tackling complex engineering challenges. You will get the opportunity to work from the ground up and be part of a group where you will be technically challenged

Key Responsibilities
Verification Leadership

  • Define and own the verification strategy, methodology, and test plans for complex ASIC/SoC designs.
  • Lead day-to-day verification activities across internal and outsourced teams, ensuring milestones are met.
  • Drive the development of verification environments, testbenches, and coverage metrics using SystemVerilog/UVM or equivalent.
  • Review and sign off verification deliverables, ensuring alignment with specifications and design intent.
  • Manage bug tracking, triage, and resolution processes.
  • Ensure verification quality metrics and KPIs are achieved.

Customer Communication & Liaison

  • Act as the primary technical contact for assigned third-party customers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participate in requirements capture, specification reviews, and technical workshops with customers.
  • Provide regular verification progress updates, issue tracking reports, and technical presentations to customers.
  • Coordinate and document customer feedback, ensuring it is clearly communicated to internal teams.
  • Manage expectations on delivery schedules, scope, and verification outcomes.

Collaboration & Process Improvement

  • Work closely with design, architecture, and physical implementation teams to ensure smooth handover and alignment.
  • Liaise with program/project managers to integrate verification milestones into overall project plans.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance verification efficiency and quality.
  • Mentor and support junior verification engineers in technical and professional development.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years' ASIC/SoC digital verification experience, with at least 3 years in a lead role.
  • Proven experience with SystemVerilog, UVM, and industry-standard verification tools (Synopsys, Cadence, Mentor/Siemens).
  • Solid understanding of RTL design, low-power design techniques, and verification methodologies.
  • Experience working directly with external customers, including requirement clarification and technical issue resolution.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles in an engineering context.

Please note you must have UK working rights.

On offer is a base salary + RSUs.

Ideally you will be based in Edinburgh but there could be an opportunity to work out of the South and make the occasional trips to the Edinburgh UK HQ.
