Finance & HR Officer — UK HQ (Wigan, Greater Manchester)

Company:Eternox UK Ltd — welding & abrasive consumables for fabrication/metalworking.

Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 – based on experience

Hours: Monday–Friday, on-site at the UK Head Office

International footprint: Offices in Milan (Italy) and Santiago (Chile)

Why this role exists

Eternox UK Ltd is scaling across the UK with multiple new sites planned. We need a rock-solid Finance & HR engine at HQ so we can hire fast, pay accurately, buy smart, invoice on time, and report clearly. Keeping the operation compliant and ready to grow.

What you'll own (end to end)

People & Payroll

  • Prepare offers and contracts from templates; onboarding packs; right-to-work checks completed before day one.
  • Run monthly payroll & auto-enrolment pensions (starters/leavers, statutory payments).
  • Maintain HR records (holidays, sickness, training) aligned to UK GDPR.
  • Publish core policies: handbook, expenses & mileage, driving for work, disciplinary & grievance.

Finance Operations

  • Accounts Payable: supplier onboarding, POGRN Invoice matching, weekly pay run.
  • Accounts Receivable & Credit Control: invoicing, statements, cash allocation, chasing aged debtors.
  • Bank reconciliations (weekly), VAT preparation, clean ledgers.

Control & Reporting

  • Issue the month-end pack (P&L, AP/AR agings, cashflow, spend vs plan) on time.
  • Keep a clear approval matrix for purchases/expenses and ensure it's followed.
  • Keep records audit-ready with tidy document control.

A week in the life

  • Finalise payroll, post journals, and reconcile the bank.
  • Issue contracts and onboard new starters for Sales/Warehouse.
  • Run the pay run, clear supplier queries, and prioritise payments under a fixed cash cap.
  • Update cashflow, check VAT position, send AR statements, and chase key accounts.
  • Wrap up with a clean AP/AR report and next-week actions.

What you'll bring

  • 3–6 years in UK SME finance + HR administration (hands-on).
  • Confident with payroll & pensions, AP/AR, bank recs, VAT, and HR files.
  • Tools: Xero, QuickBooks, Odoo (preferred), Excel/Sheets (lookups, pivots), HMRC services, e-signature.
  • Qualifications: AAT L3/4 (or QBE) preferred; proven HR admin capability (CIPD L3 helpful).
  • Bias to action, tidy documentation, and clear written English.
