Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough cleaning of classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas to maintain a hygienic environment.
  • Carry out floor care duties including sweeping, mopping, buffing, and waxing to keep surfaces spotless.
  • Manage waste disposal by emptying trash bins and ensuring proper recycling practices are followed.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards.
  • Collaborate with school staff to address specific cleaning requests or concerns promptly.
  • Maintain custodial equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Assist with special projects such as residential painting or industrial cleaning as needed.
  • Provide porter services by supporting events or activities that require additional cleaning support.

Requirements

  • Previous janitorial or custodial experience is preferred, showcasing your ability to maintain cleanliness in various settings.
  • Familiarity with commercial cleaning practices and techniques is essential for success in this role.
  • Experience with floor care methods including buffing and waxing is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying cleaning needs.
  • Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team player when necessary.
  • Excellent time management skills to effectively prioritize tasks during busy afternoons.
  • Basic maintenance skills are a plus, allowing you to assist with minor repairs when required.
