Recovery Orientated Justice Service

South Lanarkshire

Full Time, 37.50 hours per week. We also welcome applications for part time hours for these roles.

Fixed term to 21 April 2026 with possible extension.

This role is specific to those who have lived/living experience of accessing drug and alcohol services and/or the Justice System.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Recovery Orientated Justice Peer Mentor service supporting the work of the Alcohol and Drug Problem Solving Court in Hamilton and the needs of those placed on Structured Deferred Sentences. The Peer Mentor role is integral to the wider Recovery Oriented Justice Service (ROJS) established by South Lanarkshire Council at the end of 2023.

Sacro works in conjunction with the wider Recovery Oriented Justice team to provide speciliased support where required. The service is aligned to South Lanarkshire's Alcohol and Drug Partnership (ADP) public health approach to justice delivery plan and supports individuals in conflict with the law whose offending is related to their substance use.

You will work in partnership across South Lanarkshire and adopt an assertive outreach approach supporting individuals within their own communities to build hope, social capital and establish support networks.

The post requires the ability to be proactive, use initiative and organise workload within a pressurised environment. Knowledge of the Justice System, substance use/recovery and complexties of accessing support and service is necessary. Knowledge of services available in South Lanarkshire area would be an advantage. Relevant experience within Justice services as well as partnership working is desirable.

Experience in Social Care would be beneficial. A relevant qualification at SVQ level 3 or equivalent is desirable but not required as training will be provided. Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG) will be a requirement for this post along with satisfactory references. This support at times may cover Saturdays and may also be out with normal business hours, you must be prepared to commit to this.

A driving licence will be required and access to a vehicle with appropriate business insurance.
