The team…

Learning and Skills are a dynamic team within the Education, Schools and Inclusion service. We deliver learning opportunities to the most vulnerable residents in Gateshead, provide apprenticeships to over 400 businesses, and create project opportunities through external funding to help move people nearer to the labour market.

About the role….

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to deliver Maths and English qualifications, alongside project-based learning that supports young people across our learning programmes in developing the skills needed to progress into employment or further education.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting learners on their educational journeys through their study programmes and onto successful further learning, employment, apprenticeships or Supported Internships. This role requires an individual who understands the barriers to learning for young people and is committed to working within ethical frameworks, emphasising confidentiality, safeguarding and relational practices.

With experience of working within a 16-18 provision, you will be part of a team delivering sessions across our learning centres in Gateshead Interchange and Birtley, with the aim of inspiring and engaging the young people attending those sessions.

At Learning and Skills, we promote high expectations for our learners, and we want you to be able to enthuse and inspire learners as well as support them to overcome barriers to learning to achieve the best possible outcomes enabling progression to further education or employment. Using your experience and knowledge you will be in control of developing programmes to meet the needs of our young people focusing on the development of academic, vocational and social skills.
