Group Financial Controller
to lead the finance function through its next phase of expansion and transformation.

Role Overview

The
Group Financial Controller
will take full ownership of the financial control environment across the group, ensuring robust financial management, accuracy, and compliance. You will lead a team of 16 across financial reporting, FP&A, management accounting, and transactional finance, while acting as a key strategic partner to the CFO and senior leadership team.

, who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team of 16 across group reporting, management accounting, and transactional finance.
  • Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting cycles; ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with accounting standards (IFRS/UK GAAP).
  • Oversee the consolidation of group results and preparation of management information for the Board and investors.
  • Maintain strong internal controls, processes, and governance to ensure financial integrity and mitigate risk.
  • Manage external audits, tax compliance, and relationships with auditors, advisors, and financial institutions.
  • Partner with the CFO and senior leadership team to drive financial performance, margin improvement, and cost efficiency across the business.
  • Oversee cashflow management, forecasting, and working capital optimisation.
  • Support strategic initiatives such as system implementations, new store rollouts, and potential M&A activity.
  • Ensure continuous improvement in finance systems, reporting, and automation to support scalable growth.

Key Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with strong post-qualification experience.
  • Proven experience as a
    Financial Controller or Group Financial Controller
    within the
    retail industry
    (essential).
  • Demonstrable experience managing and developing a sizeable finance team (10+ people).
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS/UK GAAP) and experience with group consolidations.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to interpret financial data and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Hands-on, proactive approach, comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with ERP and reporting systems (e.g. SAP, NetSuite, or Dynamics) advantageous.
