Graduate Engineer (Development Infrastructure)
to join our Transport and Urbanisation division in
Ipswich.
We'd like to hear from graduates that share our ethos and values and are driven to truly transform the world around them.
What does the role involve?
Working within a team environment you will be supporting development teams by assisting with the provision of a multi-disciplinary consultancy service for Sweco's developer clients.
You will be working on Civil Infrastructure engineering projects including development schemes (designing highways, SuDS, levels, earthworks, etc), land regeneration and remediation engineering (ground models, geotechnical and geology etc.) and assisting the wider engineering team. The projects our teams work on span many exciting sectors, including Energy, Logistics and Data storage.
You Will Be Expected To
- Work in a supervised environment on site and in the office ensuring that the technical content of work is acceptable and prepared in agreed timescales.
- Work in a team environment to deliver projects, reporting to the appropriate team leader or project manager.
- Be capable of working on your own initiative, with appropriate supervision.
- Work in close collaboration with teams in other disciplines.
- Understand and comply with the Company Integrated Management Systems (IMS) and take cognisance of current Health & Safety legislation.
Who are we looking for?
Our unique, personalised programme is designed for passionate, forward-thinking graduates who want to change the world around them. They'll thrive in a dynamic team environment and have an appetite to collaborate not only with fellow graduates, but also with mentors and leaders across the business.
What do you need to apply?
We want to hear from you if you…
- Have a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering which is accredited by the UK Engineering Council with eligibility for at least Incorporated Engineer status.
- Have less than 12 months of relevant work experience (excluding placements).
- Are confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint).
- Are driven, proactive, and solution-oriented.
- Can work in the UK without restrictions either now or in the future. This is a permanent role, and we're looking for candidates who can grow their careers with Sweco without a time limit.
What's in it for you?
Our Graduate Scheme offers a two-year blended learning experience, with a tailored programme delivered virtually and face-to-face. You'll have the chance to network and grow with the 2026 cohort. Personal growth will be supported by our Early Careers team, mentors and subject matter experts from across the business.
Structured masterclasses focus on fundamental skills, internal insight, and functional expertise, helping fast-track your development as you pursue professional accreditation. The programme builds your confidence early in your career and gives you a platform for genuine impact within Sweco.
You'll be assigned a workplace mentor and a SCE (Supervising Civil Engineer) who will help to support your progress toward professional recognition with the ICE.
You'll receive a permanent position with an industry-standard salary and benefits package, including 25 days holiday, a great pension and life assurance.
Read what our previous graduates have to say about their experience on the careers section of our website.
Please note, we will hold an assessment centre for this position in January / February 2026.
All applicants will be contacted regardless of the outcome. We provide feedback to all attendees of interviews or assessment centres but are unable to offer personal feedback at the application stage.
