We are looking for an Automation Engineer with strong experience in automated gates, moving structures, and FEIG control systems. This position sits at the end of the manufacturing process and focuses on bringing complex products to life through accurate electrical build, configuration, testing, and onsite commissioning. The role is mostly based on site with occasional travel for more involved commissioning work.
The Role
• Build, wire, and test automated gate systems and other moving structures
• Configure, fault find, and commission FEIG control units and related access or safety systems
• Work closely with mechanical and electrical teams to ensure safe and reliable performance
• Carry out onsite commissioning for complex installations when needed
• Support process improvement across electrical build and test stages
• Provide technical support to the wider engineering and production teams
What Will Make You a Strong Fit for This Role:
• Solid experience with automated gates, barriers, or similar moving systems
• Strong understanding of FEIG controllers including wiring, setup, configuration, and diagnostics
• Enjoyment of hands on engineering work with a focus on final build quality
• Confidence in solving problems across electrical and control systems
• Comfort working in a production environment at the late stage of manufacture
• Willingness to support onsite commissioning when deeper technical involvement is required
• Clear communication skills and a practical, collaborative mindset
Indicators This Role May Not Align With Your Background:
• No background with FEIG control units or automated gates, barriers, or similar systems
• A preference for roles with heavy travel, consultancy style activity, or mostly reactive work
• Limited interest in being based within a final build and late stage manufacturing environment
• Unwillingness to travel on an ad hoc basis for complex commissioning tasks
• A preference for working in isolation rather than as part of a broader engineering team
Please note that full and permanent right to work in the UK is a non-negotiable requirement for this role. This employer is unable to offer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
