You'll act as the company's data steward and governor, ensuring consistency, clarity, and accountability in every data decision and tool selection. Beyond mentorship, you'll set the data philosophy and operating standards that guide how teams interpret, trust, and act on data. This role is ideal for a leader who thrives at the intersection of data, product, and technology, translating complexity into clarity and enabling every team to make smarter, faster decisions through data.You'll report directly to the CTO and be part of a team that values quality, communication, and continuous learning. This is a hybrid role based in our Leicester city center office. Most of the team works on site four days a week, with one flexible work from home dayWhat you'll do:Build scalable analytics and data science capabilities that others can maintain and extendPartner with Product, GTM, and Engineering teams to define data requirements and key performance metrics. Continually update and improve as our business evolvesTranslate business needs into technical models, pipelines, and reusable data productsOversee the design and implementation of predictive analytics and AI models that deliver internal and customer-facing insightsEstablish and enforce data quality standards, governance frameworks, and best practicesDrive a culture of data literacy, ensuring teams are empowered to use data responsibly and confidentlyCollaborate across business and technical domains, enabling data driven product innovationRequirements:Widely recognized as a technical expert and thought leader in the industryExtensive experience designing and building large-scale, complex, distributed systemsDeep understanding of multiple technology domains and architectural patternsExceptional communication, collaboration, and leadership skillsProven ability to influence and drive consensus at all levels of the organizationExperience with a wide range of technologies and platformsStrong track record of innovation and technical leadershipExperience working with and influencing executive leadershipSignificant contributions to the software engineering community (e.g., peer-reviewed publications, open-source projects, conference presentations)Success Measures:90% reduction in manual data reconciliation by Q2 202695% of product and GTM teams using governed dashboards or models weekly at minimum (ideally daily)Launch of at least 3 cross-functional predictive models or automated analytics workflows per quarterMaintain >99.95% data accuracy across systems75% of data and product teams trained in applied data literacy and model interpretationWhat you'll need:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field10+ years of experience in data and analytics, with 5+ years in leadership rolesProven success in scaling analytics from the ground up and with data science teams in a SaaS or technology environmentStrong experience with data platforms, cloud architectures (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and modern analytics stacksDatabricks for data management and DB Notebooks for rapid developmentExperience with any/all PyTorch, HuggingFace, LangChain, LangGraph, Smolagents, LlamaIndex, ONNX, TensorRT, vLLM, Airflow, AWS Batch, Qdrant, Elasticsearch a huge plusExperience implementing predictive models, data pipelines, and governance frameworks at scaleDemonstrated experience partnering effectively with other functions to drive business outcomesQualitiesWhat other characteristics do we look for?
