About the Role
A highly regarded accountancy and advisory practice is seeking an
Assistant Manager
to join its Business Management team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional looking to take the next step in their career - managing a portfolio of clients, supporting junior staff, and working closely with senior leadership across a range of accounting and advisory services.

Key Responsibilities
- Review book-keeping, VAT returns, and management accounts for a diverse client base.
- Contribute to annual financial statements and corporation tax filings.
- Draft client advisory notes and reports in collaboration with Managers and Directors.
- Support clients with annual personal tax filings.
- Manage your own portfolio of clients and act as their primary point of contact.
- Liaise with clients to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met efficiently.
- Support senior management with deadlines across Accounts, Tax, VAT, Payroll, and Company Secretarial areas.
- Develop a detailed understanding of each client's business operations.
- Provide clear and confident communication on financial matters to clients.
- Offer insights and interpretation of financial results to help clients make informed decisions.
- Assist clients with implementing and improving accounting systems and internal controls.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to internal training sessions.
- Help streamline internal processes and enhance overall operational efficiency.
About You
- Professionally qualified (ACA / ACCA or equivalent) or qualified by experience.
- Minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience in practice.
- Solid experience in general practice accounting and client management.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, VAT, and taxation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Experience using Xero; familiarity with other platforms such as Iris or Sage is advantageous.
- Technically strong, analytical, and commercially minded.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capable of working accurately under pressure while maintaining a client-focused approach.
- Previous experience managing or mentoring junior team members preferred.
