Company Description

Susan's Farm CIO is an organic, pasture-for-life certified working Care Farm located in the Eden Valley, Cumbria. We focus on education and well-being, offering school visits, alternative educational programs, and placements for individuals with mental health challenges. The farm is home to cattle, sheep, and poultry, and we take pride in selling our locally-produced goods. As a registered charity (No , our mission emphasises community support and sustainable farming practices.

Role Description

This is 30hr (0.8FTE) on-site role is based in Carlisle. The Managing Director will oversee the farm's strategic direction, financial management, and day-to-day operations. Responsibilities include leading the small staff team, ensuring compliance with farming and charitable regulations, developing partnerships, and promoting the farm's educational and well-being initiatives. The role will require close supervision of farm activities, educational programs, and engagement with the local community to further the organization's mission.

The Managing Director will oversee the small staff team and report directly to the Board of Trustees

Qualifications

  • Leadership and Management skills, with the ability to oversee teams and drive organisational strategy.
  • Experience in Financial and Operational Management, including budgeting, compliance, and resource allocation as well as grant funding.
  • Strong Communication and Engagement skills, with the capability to build partnerships and work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in education, mental health services, or charitable organisations is essential.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills to respond to the dynamic needs of a working farm and small busy charity .
