THE ROLE

Are you a self-starter with a knack for strategy and creativity? We're looking for a confident and ambitious individual to join us at the Castle Climbing Centre as Marketing and Events Officer.

As the Marketing and Events Officer, you will be a true team player, working with other departments to strength our brand, and deliver engaging events for our diverse community. You'll be working closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager on campaigns, manage social media, design and produce events while ensuring our ethos of inclusivity, community, and adventure shines through in everything we do. You will support other departments with promoting their activities; creating marketing materials and content, and any ad-hoc design requests. The MEO will also work closely with HR for internal events such as workshops, staff trips, etc., and communications related to recruitment and internal engagement.

You'll need to be familiar with tools such as Photoshop/InDesign/Canva, and hopefully a video editing tool.

This is a fantastic role for someone who is passionate about climbing, has strong organisational skills, and loves generating compelling content

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Events Planning – Organise and Co-ordinating events from 3rd party partners that take place at the Castle for customers such as Petzl, the North Face, La Sportiva etc.
  • Organise and Co-ordinate with internal staff and HR for staff events
  • Produce and review risk assessments for event activities
  • Liaise with teams and staff members at all levels across the organization in the planning and production of events. Ensuring all relevant departments are well briefed and engaged.
  • Assist the Marketing Manager in the day to day running of Castle communications, tasks such as copy writing, poster design, advertising, staff liaison
  • Managing social media accounts, ensuring it is inline with Castle branding
  • Collaborative idea generation and creative input for campaigns and content delivery. Co-ordinating and create engaging social media content with an analytic eye to monitor the success of the work
  • Regular reporting of events and social media campaigns
  • Providing friendly and timely responses to customer enquiries
  • Occasional requirement to work evenings or events to ensure smooth running of customer events

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Experience in an events role (at least 1 year)
  • At least 2 years experience in social media management
  • Confidence with various design software such as Adobe products
  • Excellent communication through a variety of formats including excellent written English/copywriting
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to stay on top of and prioritise several work streams
  • Tech literate, and able to pick up new apps/programs quickly
  • Knowledge of basic design/comms principles/PR
  • Familiarity with & knowledge of current social media channels
  • Proven experience in event planning/project management
  • Good knowledge of outdoor industry trends
