Deputy Lead Planner
, you'll play a central role in shaping major civil engineering and highways projects - bringing structure, clarity, and strategic thinking to high-value programmes.
You'll join a consultancy recognised for technical excellence, a collaborative culture, and a strong pipeline of flagship UK projects. This is your opportunity to take a senior step, with a clear path into full Lead Planner responsibility.
Your Role & Impact
Acting as the right hand to the Lead Planner, you'll oversee planning activities across complex NEC4-governed projects, guiding programmes from early development through delivery and completion. You'll combine technical rigour with leadership influence - ensuring projects remain predictable, efficient, and commercially protected.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing, maintaining, and cost-loading robust programmes in
Primavera P6 - Managing change processes, EOTs, and compensation events in line with
NEC4
requirements - Leading programme reviews and advising commercial teams on delay, disruption, and risk
- Creating high-quality dashboards and insights using tools such as
Power BI - Facilitating collaborative planning workshops across multidisciplinary teams
- Conducting risk-based assessments and highlighting potential H&S impacts
- Supporting continuous improvement and lean planning initiatives to enhance delivery performance
Who You Are
You're an experienced planner ready for the next step — gaining more influence, ownership, and visibility across major infrastructure delivery.
You'll bring:
- Strong background in civil engineering or infrastructure (highways, rail, utilities, major civils)
- Proven capability with
Primavera P6
and a solid understanding of
NEC3/NEC4
processes - Commercial awareness and experience contributing to claims or impact assessments
- Confident stakeholder engagement and excellent communication skills
- Experience with data-driven reporting tools such as Power BI (desirable)
- A passion for driving planning excellence and consistency across delivery teams
