The
Senior Manager, NPD Quality
leads the quality strategy and execution for new product development (NPD) across our consumer goods portfolio. This role ensures every product— from concept through commercialization— meets the company's standards for quality, safety, performance, and regulatory compliance. The Senior Manager partners closely with R&D, Engineering, Packaging, Operations, and Suppliers to embed quality-by-design principles early in the development process and drive flawless product launches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Quality in New Product Development: Oversee quality planning and risk management throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring quality requirements are built into product design and manufacturing processes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Development, R&D, Packaging, and Manufacturing teams to define specifications, critical-to-quality attributes (CTQs), and validation requirements.
  • Supplier & Material Qualification: Establish and maintain qualification standards for new suppliers, materials, and components. Collaborate with sourcing teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Testing & Validation: Oversee product testing plans, including performance, reliability, and safety testing. Ensure results meet internal and regulatory standards prior to commercialization.
  • Launch Readiness & Scale-Up: Lead quality readiness for product launches, including production line validation, process capability reviews, and quality control plans at pilot and full scale.
  • Issue Resolution: Proactively identify risks and root causes of quality issues. Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to support robust product launches and reduce market complaints.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Ensure full documentation of design controls, validation reports, and regulatory submissions. Maintain alignment with FDA, CPSC, ISO, and applicable consumer product standards.
  • Leadership & Development: Manage and develop a small team of Quality Engineers or Specialists, providing technical coaching, performance feedback, and professional growth opportunities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive quality process improvement within the NPD framework— including lessons learned, FMEA updates, and design verification best practices.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience:
  • 8–10+ years of experience in Quality, NPD, or Product Engineering within a consumer goods, CPG, or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated success in leading quality for new product launches from concept to market.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of product design verification, validation, and reliability testing.
  • Familiarity with quality tools such as DFMEA, PFMEA, DOE, root cause analysis, and statistical process control.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Exceptional cross-functional communication and influencing skills.
  • Strong project management, prioritization, and organizational capabilities.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on, problem-solving mindset.
