Humly North East are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic 1:1 Primary SEN Teaching Assistants to join our primary schools in Newcastle. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and supporting their development in a nurturing school environment. As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for providing personalised support during lessons, ensuring the student's individual needs are met, and working with the class teacher to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
There are both long-term and short-term temporary positions available with Humly, with the opportunity to be extended
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual support for a student with [e.g., autism, dyslexia, physical disabilities, etc.]
- Assist with the student's personal care and mobility, where required
- Support the student in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being, helping the student to manage any challenges
- Liaise with teachers and other support staff to plan and implement appropriate learning strategies
- Monitor and record the student's progress, helping to adjust support strategies as needed
- Attend meetings with parents and other professionals, providing updates on the student's development
About You:
- A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their learning
- Teaching Assistant qualification desirable
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or SEN support role is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Level 3 Safeguarding training (or willingness to complete training provided by Humly)
