PSCM Insulation & Fabrication are a leading supplier of fabricated products from soffit liners to fire protection boards, and we are looking for an experienced Procurement and Planning Coordinator to join our rapidly expanding production team in our facilities in Birmingham.

Key responsibilities

The Procurement and Planning Coordinator is responsible for supporting the efficient planning, purchasing, and coordination of materials, goods, and services required by the organisation. This role ensures that procurement activities are carried out in a timely, cost-effective, and compliant manner while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams. As a material planner/buyer manager, you'll oversee the planning and buying process, coordinating all planning and buying activities and operations. . You'll need to

  • Schedule the supply of materials and components to meet production requirements and maintain agreed safety stock levels.
  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate processes for material delivery from suppliers through to customer collection.
  • Assess volume requirements against planning assumptions to ensure production continuity.
  • Manage day-to-day orders and deliveries to ensure timely and accurate fulfilment.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues regarding quality, lead times or pricing.
  • Understand and manage risks that may impact the production schedule, taking prompt corrective action to minimise disruption.
  • Take follow-up actions in relation to material shortages affecting production.
  • Monitor and manage inventory accuracy, ensuring levels remain within agreed targets.
  • Support inventory checks to validate accuracy and identify variances.
  • Minimise obsolete or excess stock to reduce business liability.
  • Create and maintain regular reports, statistics, and analyses to inform stakeholders and support decision-making.
  • Track procurement spends and identify cost saving opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability, quality, and timely delivery.
  • Support supplier meetings and negotiations to ensure demand for materials is met effectively.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance supply chain performance.
  • Resolve supplier concerns promptly and evaluate performance.
  • Act as a key point of contact between suppliers, logistics, and internal teams to maintain smooth operational flow.
  • Implement all processes to agreed standards and performance targets.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancement and cost reduction.
  • Adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Demonstrate an assertive, optimistic, and resilient attitude towards change and challenge.
  • Engage proactively with others and contribute positively to team performance.
  • Exhibit self-awareness, accountability, and a collaborative approach to work.
  • Maintain motivation and composure under pressure, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.

Qualifications and Experience Levels:

  • Business or related degree is preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience of materials planning in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Good understanding of supply chain processes and their interdependencies
  • Understanding of supplier relationships and some experience of working with suppliers
  • Strong IT systems knowledge and skills including advanced Excel skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
