Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Stonemason to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for constructing, repairing, and restoring stone structures with precision and craftsmanship. This role offers an opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from historic restorations to modern architectural installations, ensuring high standards of quality and safety are maintained throughout. The ideal applicant will possess a strong understanding of masonry techniques and be proficient in the use of relevant tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Carefully measure, cut, shape, and lay stone materials according to project specifications.
  • Use hand tools such as chisels, hammers, and trowels to execute detailed masonry work.
  • Operate power tools including drills, grinders, and saws safely and effectively.
  • Assist with bricklaying tasks when required, ensuring proper alignment and bonding.
  • Perform repairs on existing stone structures, restoring stability and aesthetic appeal.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other tradespeople to ensure project accuracy and efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and organised worksite, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Support related tasks such as carpentry or roofing work when needed to complete projects efficiently.

Experience

  • Proven experience in stonemasonry or related trades such as bricklaying or general masonry.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and specialised masonry equipment.
  • Knowledge of construction techniques including masonry, carpentry, roofing, and welding is advantageous.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and interpret project plans accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on craftsmanship and safety standards.
  • Prior experience working on diverse projects ranging from restoration to new builds is preferred but not essential. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to develop their skills within a professional environment committed to quality craftsmanship.
