Position Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a high-quality Sociology curriculum to students across Key Stages 4 and 5. The role entails:
- Designing and delivering engaging and thought-provoking Sociology lessons that align with the national curriculum and school's educational philosophy.
- Creating a dynamic and inclusive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, debate, and exploration of complex societal issues.
- Assessing and monitoring student progress, providing constructive feedback, and implementing personalized learning strategies.
- Collaborating with colleagues within the Social Sciences department and across the wider school community to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
- Engaging in continuous professional development to stay abreast of current sociological research and pedagogical approaches.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in Sociology or a related field.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification.
- Demonstrated experience teaching Sociology at the secondary level, preferably across Key Stages 4 and 5.
- A passion for Sociology and the ability to inspire students to develop a critical understanding of the social world.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively and independently.
