Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate First Responder to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care and have experience in various caregiving settings, including assisted living, nursing homes, and hospice care. As a First Responder, you will be responsible for providing immediate assistance to individuals in need, ensuring their safety and wellbeing while delivering high-quality care.
Responsibilities
- Provide first aid and emergency response to individuals in various situations.
- Assist with daily living activities, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, and medication administration.
- Offer support to patients with Alzheimer's, dementia, and other cognitive impairments through behaviour management techniques.
- Engage with patients in a compassionate manner, ensuring their emotional and physical needs are met.
- Maintain accurate records of patient care and report any changes in condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Drive patients to appointments or activities as required, ensuring their safety during transport.
- Perform heavy lifting when necessary to assist patients with mobility challenges.
- Collaborate with other healthcare providers to develop and implement individualised care plans.
Experience
- Previous experience in senior care, home care, or caregiving is essential.
- Familiarity with nursing home environments and hospice care practices is highly desirable.
- Experience in first aid and emergency response is required; relevant certifications are an advantage.
- A background in childcare may be beneficial for those working with families or younger patients.
