Specialist Veterinary Nurse in Small Animal Medicine
19 hours ago
Fixed-term: This role is part time (29 hours per week) and available as a secondment for 4 months in the first instance.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our Referral Medicine Service at the Queen's Veterinary School Hospital.
The Medicine Service is a pivotal part of our multidisciplinary referral hospital and many cases come through this service initially, though they may end up requiring input from other clinical services. There is a busy and diverse caseload that can lead to unpredictability, which will require you to be adaptable, be an excellent communicator and to have the ability to work well under pressure.
The successful applicant will work alongside our current Specialist Medicine Nurse and be involved in specialist medicine consultations, diagnostic investigations including endoscopic procedures and inpatient management, as well as clinical research. They will also be expected to contribute to the development of new services, likely to include a hyperthyroid cat clinic. The role holder will be involved in the training of our final year clinical students, and senior and junior clinical training scholars also.
We are seeking an individual with a passion for nursing and problem-solving, and the ability to communicate with all levels of staff, students and clients. The ability to work on your own initiative with minimal supervision is essential. The role may also require the management of Class A (schedule 2 and 3) drugs and if so, the post holder will be responsible for maintaining all associated records.
In return, we offer an encouraging and nurturing environment and have a dedicated team of clinicians and nurses who are committed to providing the best care for our patients.
