Job Overview

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Transportation Coordinator to oversee and optimise our logistics operations. The successful candidate will manage transportation schedules, coordinate with suppliers and clients, and ensure the smooth flow of goods across various locations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong management, communication, and organisational skills to contribute to an efficient supply chain process. The position is paid and suitable for candidates with a background in logistics, management, or related fields.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Customer Site Coordination

  2. Act as the primary point of contact for customers regarding all transport operations.

  3. Gather and understand customer transport requirements to ensure service excellence.
  4. Address customer inquiries and resolve transport-related issues promptly and professionally.
  5. Conduct site visits and meetings with customers to review and improve logistics operations.

  6. Transport Planning and Coordination

  7. Plan and coordinate the transport of finished vehicles and other goods in line with customer specifications and delivery schedules.

  8. Schedule and assign drivers and vehicles to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient deliveries.
  9. Monitor and track vehicle locations and delivery status using transport management or IT systems.
  10. Maintain effective communication between carriers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure seamless coordination.

  11. Operational Efficiency

  12. Optimise routes and load planning to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.

  13. Analyse transport performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
  14. Coordinate with the wider logistics team to ensure the availability of vehicles, drivers, and necessary resources.

  15. Compliance and Safety

  16. Ensure all transport operations comply with company policies, contractual obligations, and UK legal requirements, including health and safety regulations.

  17. Promote and enforce safety standards for all drivers and vehicles.
  18. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of transport activities, vehicle maintenance, and compliance documentation.

  19. Documentation and Reporting

  20. Prepare, manage, and maintain transport documentation, including schedules, delivery logs, bills of lading, customs paperwork, and reports.

  21. Document and report incidents, delays, or discrepancies, providing timely updates to management.
  22. Utilise Microsoft Office and logistics software to generate performance reports and maintain data accuracy.

  23. Technology Utilisation

  24. Implement and leverage advanced logistics and transport management software to streamline planning, tracking, and reporting.

  25. Use IT systems to analyse logistics data and enhance overall performance visibility.

  26. Travel Requirements

  27. Occasional travel between London and various commercial ports as required.

  28. Support on-site coordination and review of transport operations at customer or port locations.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in transport coordination, logistics, or a related role within the automotive logistics industry. (Advantageous)
  • Proven experience in the automotive logistics industry. (Advantageous)
  • Experience in working with teams across different geographical locations, particularly in China. (Advantageous)

Skills:

  • Fluency in both English and Chinese (written and spoken) is essential. This is required to effectively communicate with our team in China and Chinese-speaking clients. (Essential)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
