To work at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as Deputy Lead Radiographer for MRI. The service provides an MRI service and is located within radiology department at Hillingdon Hospital.
To post holder will be expected to be an effective member of the Radiology team, be a role model for radiographic staff, provide clinical leadership and undertaking managerial responsibilities and maintain quality standards.
The Radiology Service, at Hillingdon Hospital, operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with core hours between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday. The MRI service operates 8am to 5pm every day excluding weekends.
To co-ordinate and communicate effectively with the Modality Lead Radiographers.
To assist the Lead Radiographer with development of protocols and procedures in MRI
The post holder will be expected to help in the development of radiographer vetting
To represent MRI as part of a multi-professional team and support work of relevant clinical networks.
To be able to relate to all manner of patients, with care, compassion and confidentially.
To achieve and maintain skills in information technology relevant to imaging.
To be able to use the departmental radiology information systems to register patients, check patient results and generate patient appointments.
To manage and support training of radiographers, clinical imaging assistants and students in MRI.
To effectively check patient safety and implant conditions, if applicable, prior to scanning.
The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust's services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.

To be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the MRI department.
To undertake the highly specialised comprehensive investigations of patients, including those with the most complex presentation, using advanced investigative and analytical skills and standardised protocol procedures.
To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of work including clinical practice, and for the work and clinical practice of line-managed staff
To monitor appropriate skill, mix of radiographic and support staff, to meet service needs and developments.
Investigate, record and report incidents where necessary
To address complaints, incidents, accidents, and grievances in accordance with departmental and Trust procedures.
Have effective communication with the MRI safety expert (MRSE).
To be responsible alongside the MRI Modality lead in checking the MRI Implant email and gaining the correct implant details for each patient to ensure upmost safety.
To be responsible for the future development of the Radiology service provision by the collection and evaluating of activity, demand and capacity including the analysing of data collected.
To assess, capacity, gain valid informed consent and can work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
To assess and manage clinical risk within own patient caseload and within the speciality and to advice colleagues on risk management.
To provide specialist advice to colleagues working within other clinical areas, and to other health care professionals.
To establish, lead and/or be an active member of any of the following:
Training sessions
Staff meetings
Mandatory training
To be responsible for the supervision and education of junior Radiographers, senior
Radiographers.
To ensure all line-managed staff attend mandatory training, and to monitor attendance.
To disseminate information and ensure that practice is based on best available evidence.
To over-see the clinical training of radiographers undertaking MRI Training and maintain effective and regular contact with professional and training organisations such as imaging academies.
To personally aspire and encourage others to maintain high ethical and professional standards in their attitude to work.
