About the Role

We're launching a specialist transport service dedicated to carrying children with special educational needs (SEN) safely and comfortably between home and school. As our SEN Transport Driver, you'll be the steady hand and friendly face that ensures each journey is calm, dignified, and reliable. You'll partner with Passenger Assistants, families, and school teams to make every school run an experience of confidence and care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a small minibus (category D1) along pre-defined morning and afternoon routes
  • Perform daily vehicle safety and maintenance checks, reporting any issues promptly
  • Greet pupils warmly, support them boarding and alighting, and maintain a calm cabin environment
  • Adhere strictly to safeguarding, health & safety, and SEN transport policies at all times
  • Log journey details, timings, and any incidents accurately in electronic or paper records
  • Communicate proactively with passenger assistants, parents, and school staff regarding schedules or concerns
  • Keep the vehicle clean, stocked, and presentable to promote comfort and wellbeing

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Full, clean UK driving licence with D1 entitlement
  • Eligibility for an Enhanced DBS check and Safer recruitment checks
  • Demonstrable experience driving minibuses or similar passenger vehicles
  • Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance and daily safety checks
  • Confident spoken English and clear communication skills

If ever there's a concern or issue, you'll be ready to report it to your Designated Safeguarding Lead or, in their absence, any Deputy Safeguarding Lead.
