Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Youth Work Assistant to work with our team as we continue to develop in our new venue, offering more weekly youth club sessions, homework clubs, and drop-ins. The ideal candidate will enjoy being with young people and have a genuine interest in their development.

Responsibilities

  • Listen to and engage in conversation with young people
  • Lead activities
  • Provide appropriate support to children, offering guidance and encouragement, ensuring an inclusive environment for all participants
  • Collaborate with other staff members to create a safe, supportive, and stimulating atmosphere.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles and personal development
  • Share ideas to help develop sessions and TYC generally
  • Engage in the short de-brief meetings, which monitor and evaluate the sessions

Experience Any experience in youthwork, educational or mentoring roles would be helpful but not essential.

We are looking for:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both children and adults. A sense of humour is helpful
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • A light-touch ability to mentor/ inspire youth through various activities

Pay: £12.50 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 12 per week
