About The Team We Are Recruiting To
The Housing and Homelessness Service is a fast-paced and dynamic environment that faces a range of challenges in meeting the housing needs of Coventry's residents. The team has expanded significantly in recent years, reflecting Coventry City Council's strong commitment to improving outcomes for people in housing need.

The Council's strategic vision is clearly outlined in the Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy, which focuses on prevention and early intervention, delivering targeted and crisis support, and helping people to sustain their tenancies long term.

By becoming part of an expanding team who are focused on preventing households from becoming homeless as well as providing tailored support and interventions when someone does become homeless this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to some of the most vulnerable people in our city.

What is the job role?
As a Housing and Homelessness Manager within the Statutory Housing Options and Allocations Service, you will need to be adaptable, proactive, and resilient. You will play a key role in ensuring that officers are empowered, motivated, and have the right tools to deliver an excellent standard of service to residents.

As one of three Housing and Homelessness Managers, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, developing, and motivating a team of officers across the Housing Options and/or Allocations Service.
  • Providing specialist advice and guidance to ensure teams operate in full compliance with the Housing Act 1996 (as amended by the Homelessness Reduction Act
  • Driving performance throughout your service area, Monitoring KPI's and overseeing effective performance management and reporting.
  • Managing and maintaining quality assurance processes to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality services to residents.
  • Leading on service improvement projects to help meet strategic objectives and enhance service outcomes.

Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic professional with a comprehensive understanding of both Part 6 and Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended by the Homelessness Reduction Act The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and supervision skills, with proven experience working under pressure and driving positive change in a fast-paced and demanding environment.

We operate an agile working model, requiring staff to attend the office for a minimum of 40% of the working week. This may increase depending on service needs.
