Corporate Tax Manager/ Senior Manager

A leading accountancy practice is seeking an experienced and motivated Corporate Tax Manager or Senior Manager to join it's Cambridge team.
In this senior and highly autonomous role, you will take ownership of key client relationships, lead complex corporate tax projects, and play a pivotal part in shaping the future of the firms tax offering. Working closely with partners and senior leaders, you will deliver strategic tax advice, support the growth of both client and internal practice initiatives, and provide guidance and mentorship to team members.
Role Responsibilities
- Oversee a diverse portfolio of corporate tax clients, ensuring high-quality advisory and compliance services.
- Lead and manage complex tax projects, including international tax planning, group restructuring, M&A transactions, tax due diligence, share schemes, reorganisations, succession and exit planning (including buybacks, capital reductions, and MBOs).
- Conduct technical reviews of corporation tax computations and returns prepared by the team.
- Build, manage, and strengthen client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and identifying opportunities for additional services.
- Develop and implement tax strategies that support client and business growth.
- Manage team members, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and performance feedback.
- Take responsibility for project management, including controlling WIP, billing, and maximising fee income.
- Stay up to date with changes in tax legislation, sharing insights with clients and colleagues.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the tax department, including business development initiatives and process improvements.
- Represent the firm at client meetings, networking events, and industry functions.
- Ideally bring some broader tax knowledge (personal tax, VAT, Stamp Duty/SDLT), though not essential.
Personal Requirements
- Significant experience in corporate tax with demonstrable success in a managerial or senior managerial role.
- Strong technical expertise and the ability to provide strategic insight on complex tax matters.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to inspire confidence in clients and colleagues.
- Proven leadership skills, with a passion for developing and supporting team members.
- Exceptional organisational and project-management abilities, with the capability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- CTA qualified (or ACA with relevant tax experience).
- Proficiency in tax software and a solid understanding of wider accounting and financial principles.
