We are seeking a caring, reliable, and proactive Dinnertime Supervisor to support our busy nursery during the middle of the day. The role involves supervising children during their lunch period, assisting with meals, and helping to maintain a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment. You will work closely with nursery practitioners to ensure routines run smoothly and children are supported with their care needs.

Hours: Monday to Friday 11am-2pm full year contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise children during dinnertime, ensuring a calm, positive, and inclusive environment.
  • Assist with serving meals, supporting children with eating, and promoting healthy mealtime routines.
  • Encourage good table manners, independence, and positive social interaction.
  • Support children with personal care as needed (e.g., handwashing, toileting support following policy, cleaning up spills).
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, including cleaning tables, chairs, and meal areas before and after use.
  • Monitor children's safety at all times, following all safeguarding and health & safety procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with staff members regarding children's needs, incidents, or concerns.
  • Prepare dining spaces before meals and return areas to a clean and organised state afterwards.
  • Participate in general nursery duties such as supervising free play before or after lunch.
  • Model positive behaviour and uphold the nursery's values and policies.

Requirements

  • Experience working with young children (desirable but not essential).
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and basic health & safety (training can be provided).
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Ability to work the required midday hours consistently.

Additional Hours

  • There may be opportunities for additional hours to support staff cover, busy periods, or wider nursery activities.
  • Additional hours can include morning or afternoon sessions, holiday cover, or support during staff absences.
