Maintenance Officer (General)

We're looking for an experienced maintenance officer to join our team who are responsible for completing all maintenance works around the YMCA Leicestershire's properties

Salary: £28,038 per annum

Hours of Work: 40 Hours per week

Location: Leicester

Closing date: 28 June 2025

About the role:

YMCA Leicestershire is the largest voluntary sector provider of accommodation to single homeless young people within Leicester between the ages of 16 – 25 years old. It is our aim that all young people are supported to permanently transition out of their temporary state of homelessness and as such, YMCA Leicestershire prides itself on developing and maintaining a living environment that is inspiring and aspirational.

The post of Maintenance Officer has been created to assist the Property and Maintenance Manager with the ever-growing number of YMCA Leicestershire's property portfolio. This post will require a hands-on confident person to work within this fast-moving department.

Please note that an enhanced DBS check will be required as part of YMCA Leicestershire's safer recruitment process.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • To work as part of the maintenance department in resolving all asset management, maintenance and property issues across the organisation.
  • Ensure compliance with all legislation related to site and property maintenance.
  • To assist the Health & Safety Officer

About you:

As the Maintenance Officer, you will work with the team in and around the YMCA Leicestershire's property portfolio ensuring that they continue to be kept to a 5* standard.

This will require wide general maintenance knowledge, be team player, self-motivated and have a good eye for detail.

To succeed in the role of Maintenance Officer, your key skills will include:

  • Hold a formal trade qualification or be able to evidence at least 3 years relevant experience as tradesperson
  • Basic knowledge of other trades such as joinery and plumbing.
  • Ability to supervise external contractors/ suppliers
  • An understanding of social housing and landlord responsibilities.
  • You will be resilient, flexible and adaptable.
  • To be able to work independently and on own initiative
  • Must hold a driver's licence.

YMCA Leicestershire is the largest voluntary sector provider of accommodation to single homeless young people within Leicester and over the last 6 years has delivered the Leicester City Council contract for delivery of accommodation-based housing related support for young people
