Job Overview

We're looking for a capable, hands-on IT Technician to support day-to-day technical operations within a hardware-focused environment.

This position combines practical, workshop-based technical work with broader IT support responsibilities — maintaining systems, resolving hardware and software issues, and assisting with test and production setups.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring our technical infrastructure runs smoothly, supporting both internal users and technical workflows. This role also offers clear scope to develop into a Senior or Lead Technician position over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot computer systems, servers, and hardware test equipment.
  • Install and configure operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and essential software.
  • Provide user support via help desk tickets, email, or phone — ensuring prompt issue resolution.
  • Manage and support computer networking components including LAN, VPN, firewalls, and wireless connectivity.
  • Monitor and maintain system performance; identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Perform physical hardware handling including drive installation, system builds, and disassembly.
  • Document incidents, resolutions, and technical procedures using ticketing tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, or BMC Remedy.
  • Support users with Microsoft Office and other key business applications.
  • Assist with future on-site installations and respond to customer technical queries as needed.
  • Contribute to workflow improvements, workshop organisation, and equipment maintenance.

Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience in technical or desktop support within a corporate or technical workshop environment.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware troubleshooting and repair, including servers, storage devices, and peripherals.
  • Confident installing and configuring operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux).
  • Understanding of computer networking (LAN, VPN, wireless, firewalls).
  • Proficiency with ticketing systems (e.g. ServiceNow, Jira, BMC Remedy).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
  • High attention to detail, strong problem-solving and documentation skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, while collaborating effectively in a small team.
  • Soldering, cable-making, or electronics skills are a strong bonus but not required.

Opportunities

  • Exposure to a unique, hardware-centric technical environment.
  • Clear pathway to develop into a Lead Technician or specialist support role.
  • Work closely with experienced engineers and gain valuable hands-on experience across multiple IT disciplines.
