Overview
In this role, you will support the management and governance of UK and Channel Islands Defined Contribution (DC) pension schemes, acting as a key specialist across scheme operations, supplier oversight and regulatory compliance. You will contribute to scheme design, lead member communication strategies, monitor investment performance, and respond to employee pension enquiries to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient administration.
You will also play a strategic role in global pension initiatives, supporting projects across the UK, Europe, Asia and other regions. This includes analysing emerging regulations, assisting with tax and policy updates, and supporting enhancements to plan design, systems and governance frameworks. The role is well suited to a pensions specialist with experience managing employer pension plans or an individual from a pension consulting background seeking a more complex, international environment.
Purpose of the Role
To design, implement and govern employee retirement plans and benefits programmes, ensuring compliance, strong risk management, and high-quality support for employees and leaders.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee retirement plans and benefits programmes aligned to organisational strategy, including resolution of escalated issues
- Ensure all pension plans and benefits are compliant with internal governance and external regulatory requirements
- Lead employee communication and engagement activity to educate colleagues on available retirement and benefits options
- Conduct market research and support the development of benefits strategy, administration and compliance
- Manage and oversee third-party suppliers involved in administering retirement and benefits services
- Monitor all cost elements of retirement plans, ensuring accurate forecasting, budget alignment and ongoing funding oversight

- Lead a team delivering complex work, setting objectives, coaching and managing performance and reward outcomes
- If operating as an individual contributor, guide team members through complex assignments and collaborate across specialist areas
- Provide expert consultation on complex issues and support the resolution of escalated matters
- Identify and mitigate risk, contributing to new or enhanced controls, policies and procedures
- Engage in complex data analysis and use insights to solve problems creatively
- Communicate complex, sensitive or technical information with clarity
- Influence stakeholders to support effective outcomes
- Collaborate across business areas to ensure alignment with wider organisational goals
What You'll Need
- Extensive knowledge of UK pensions legislation and regulatory requirements, particularly DC schemes
- Relevant pensions qualifications (e.g., APMI or similar) completed or in progress
- Proven project ownership and delivery experience in a fast-paced environment
- Strong Excel capability and advanced data analysis skills

- Experience in data management, IT change processes, risk and control environments, pensions administration and supplier management
- Ability to challenge existing practices and drive continuous improvement
- Strong written communication skills, able to translate complex pension topics into clear member communications
