Fractional Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), 12 months contract

We're supporting an established global investment management firm in appointing a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) / Head of Security on a Fractional basis to provide independent, high-level strategic guidance on information security and governance.

This is a rare opportunity to influence board-level decision-making, oversee outsourced security operations, and shape the firm's technology and cyber strategy during a key period of transformation.

The Role

You'll act as a trusted advisor to the Information Security Steering Committee, providing clarity and direction across both strategic and operational security matters. Your remit will span high-level governance through to oversight of outsourced security services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing independent advice to the Information Security Steering Committee and senior leadership.
  • Attending monthly and quarterly governance meetings to present on security trends, programme status, and emerging risks.
  • Developing and maintaining an information security roadmap aligned with the firm's broader technology strategy.
  • Overseeing the effectiveness of outsourced SOC and security operations partners, ensuring quality and continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring the security architecture, risk register, and policy frameworks remain robust, scalable, and fit for purpose.
  • Contributing expert input to change management, design governance, and security assurance activities.

Required experience

  • Deep experience within banking, hedge fund, or asset management environments, with a solid grasp of regulatory expectations, vendor oversight, and the dynamics of outsourced technology operations.
  • Proven senior leadership experience in information security, operating at board or committee level — likely as a CISO, Head of Information Security, or Security Advisor.
  • Strategic and interpersonal agility, able to engage confidently across both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Hands-on capability — willing to roll up your sleeves when needed, whether that's reviewing policy frameworks, validating technical controls, or supporting incident response.
