Telematics Technician – Luton Site
The Opportunity
Join our expert Engineering team as a
Telematics Technician
, taking responsibility for the installation, maintenance, and support of our cutting-edge telematics systems across a diverse range of equipment. This hands-on role is key to ensuring the reliability and performance of our telematics infrastructure, supporting our operations across the UK and helping drive innovation in fleet connectivity and performance monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Install telematics units across a varied fleet of ground support and plant equipment.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair telematics systems at technician level to ensure reliable functionality.
- Monitor faults, alerts, and system performance through the Targa Telematics platform.
- Diagnose issues promptly and deliver effective on-site resolutions to minimise downtime.
- Take ownership of installation projects from initial planning through to completion.
- Provide technical support and training to site teams on telematics system operation.
- Maintain accurate records of all installations, inspections, and maintenance activities.
- Travel to UK sites to perform installations, diagnostics, and system upgrades as required.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company safety standards and airport regulations.
- Support internal audits and compliance activities aligned with ISO9001, ISO14001, and OHSAS18001 frameworks.
Skills & Experience
What We Are Looking For
- Proven experience in electronics, auto-electrical, or a related technical role.
- Strong understanding of telematics, GPS, or automotive electrical systems.
- Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and maintaining electronic units.
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and system manuals.
- Proactive problem-solver with strong diagnostic and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with the confidence to liaise across departments and customer sites.
- Full UK driving licence (essential) and willingness to travel regularly across UK operations.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with plant or Ground Support Equipment (GSE) is highly desirable.
Health & Safety and ISO Awareness
- Demonstrates commitment to safe working practices and compliance with all company health and safety procedures.
- Reports incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Adheres to the company's Integrated Management System (IMS) and supports continuous improvement within the ISO framework.
Qualifications
- Level 3 qualification in Auto Electrical or Mobile Electrical Principles.
- BTEC HNC Diploma or City & Guilds LGV Level 3.
- Forklift licence (desirable).
