Role Summary:
Are you an experienced EC&I engineer looking to work on technically complex and safety-critical systems?
We're seeking a Senior EC&I Engineer to lead and support the delivery of electrical, control, and instrumentation systems across a range of major projects in the nuclear sector. With a focus on mechanical handling equipment, cranes, and bespoke automation systems, this role offers a chance to take ownership of challenging design and delivery work in highly regulated environments.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Provide expert technical input into the design, specification, and implementation of EC&I systems—particularly those involving mechanical handling equipment, overhead cranes, and bespoke lifting solutions.
- Lead and support EC&I aspects of complex projects across the full lifecycle—from concept and front-end design through to commissioning and closeout.
- Apply your working knowledge of functional safety, control systems architecture, instrumentation selection, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations (e.g., BS EN 61508, BS EN
- Collaborate with mechanical and structural engineers to ensure full integration of EC&I systems with physical handling equipment.
- Conduct site surveys, risk assessments, and technical reviews to inform project development and ensure operability and maintainability of delivered systems.
Formal Qualifications or Training:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Control, Instrumentation Engineering or a related discipline—or equivalent experience.
- Significant experience in delivering EC&I engineering services in a regulated industry, ideally within nuclear, defence, or similar complex environments.
- Proven experience with mechanical handling systems, cranes, hoists, and associated safety and control systems.
