About Hyperexponential (hx)
At hyperexponential, we're building the AI-powered platform that enables the world's most critical decisions in a $7 trillion industry, which risks to take, and how to price them. These are the decisions that shape real-world outcomes: whether rockets successfully launch into space, autonomous vehicles make it to market, or communities recover after major storms.
Until now, insurance has been making billion-dollar decisions using outdated tools. We're changing that. Our platform brings together data, AI, and human expertise to give insurers the fastest path from submission to decision - helping them move faster, act smarter, and take on more risk with confidence.
Backed by a16z, Highland Europe, and Battery Ventures, we're scaling globally - already trusted by nearly 50 of the world's largest insurers, with zero churn and billions in premiums flowing through hx.
What began as a single product in one market has rapidly evolved into a multi-product, multi-territory platform powering every stage of pricing and underwriting. AI is at the core of what we do - from building the world's first domain-specific AI peer programmer for insurance (think GitHub Copilot with a PhD in actuarial science) to shaping agentic workflows that reinvent how this industry operates.
What makes hx different is the people who build it. Here, impact isn't tied to title or tenure; it's defined by the challenges you take on and the discipline you bring. Surrounded by peers who stretch you, you'll do the best, hardest work of your life in a company engineered to endure.
If that sounds like you, join us in building what comes next.
About The Engineering Team
At hyperexponential, engineering is at the heart of our mission to transform the insurance industry. Our platform, hx Renew, gives insurers the ability to build complex mathematical models in Python and React, enabling them to make faster, smarter pricing decisions that directly impact the real world. From insuring global concert tours to protecting entire states against natural disasters, our technology makes it possible.
Within engineering, our product teams bring together frontend, backend, product, and design expertise to deliver user-centred features that drive impact. As part of this, frontend engineers play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining interfaces that simplify complexity for users.
As a Frontend Engineer in a Product Team, you will own the end-to-end delivery of new and existing UI features in hx Renew's workflow and admin management areas. Working closely with designers, backend engineers, and product managers, you'll translate requirements into robust, reliable, and accessible interfaces, while also contributing to our shared design system and collaborating with the wider frontend community across hx.
What You'll Be Doing
- Own the development and enhancement of workflow-related UI features in hx Renew's frontend, extending and maintaining hx's design system and component library (shadcn + tailwindcss).
- Translate Figma mockups into production-ready, accessible components that deliver clear and reliable user journeys.
- Collaborate with backend engineers and product managers to clarify requirements and deliver features that balance usability, performance, and technical quality.
- Share knowledge and patterns with frontend peers across hx, contributing to consistency, best practices, and community-led improvements.
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests, ensuring UI components are reliable and production-ready within CI/CD pipelines.
- Proactively identify and implement UI/UX improvements that raise the standard of usability within your product domain.
What You'll Need To Have Done
- Built and shipped complex, multi-page SPAs using React and TypeScript in a commercial setting.
- Delivered accessible, scalable, and maintainable UI components that integrated with APIs and data-heavy workflows.
- Extended or maintained a shared component library using design tokens and accessibility best practices.
- Worked end-to-end on features: from collaborating with designers on mockups to delivering tested, production-ready components.
- Contributed to team-wide engineering quality by improving testing, documentation, or shared frontend practices.
- Taken ownership of outcomes, solving problems proactively and working independently while engaging with a distributed community of frontend peers.
You're unlikely to thrive here if
- You prefer predictability and rigid processes over ambiguity and rapid iteration.
- You see ownership as stopping at delivery, rather than ensuring outcomes are achieved.
- You are uncomfortable engaging in cross-team collaboration or sharing knowledge with peers.
