Position Summary
We are on the look out for a
Senior Mathematician*
(iGaming) to join our team

Reporting to the Manager of Mathematics, you will be creating exciting new games focused on the UK and EU markets as part of a global team at Light & Wonder.

Engaging with other mathematicians, game producers and engine coders, your design input, gameplay feedback and innovations will be vital.

This is a hybrid role with some office travel (depending on distance), working most often with our developers in the Bristol office; however, you will also work regularly with the US iGaming team based in Las Vegas.

You will have experience in creating many successful iGaming releases as a mathematician. You are enthusiastic about iGaming with a deep knowledge of the industry and a broad knowledge of competitors' games, and you will be able to see a project complete from start to finish using your experience. You will also work closely with the Game Production Manager to better understand and improve player experiences as Light & Wonder move into the 2026/27 roadmap and beyond.

You will be a key contributor to meetings regarding game design, game development, tooling, project management and compliance.

Confidence with communication skills and being able to work remotely with video conferencing is a must.

*Job Description*

• Develop game design techniques and encourage innovation within the team.
• Collaborate with the compliance team, and with the RTP monitoring team to ensure the best processes are in place to oversee compliance of our games.
• Consult with other iGaming Creative Studios teams regarding BI/Data, game design, QA, project planning, game development.
• Work with game designers and mathematicians to develop proof of concept and feasible math models. Set an example to other mathematicians.
• Work with game engineers to ensure the correct implementation of math models.
• Deliver high quality work as scheduled in accordance with the game design and product requirements.
• Maintain an understanding of competitive products and technology.
• Develop and prove math models for games that demonstrate game probabilities and return to player via theoretical calculation and/or Monte Carlo simulation.
• Engage in continuous retroactive analysis of games.

*Qualifications*

• 5+ years' experience in the iGaming space is desirable, but a shorter timeframe will be considered given relevant experience in the casino or social gaming spaces.
• Experience with programming simulations, engines or similar in C++, C#, Python, or other language required.
• Confident using Excel.
• Good written and verbal English communication skills with a high level of interpersonal skills.
• Must be a self-motivated team player with the ability to work in a customer-oriented, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Education

• Educated to Batchelor's degree level in a STEM subject, or relevant industry experience required.
