Design Manager | Chiswick, West London

Overview

An established main contractor is seeking an experienced Design Manager to oversee the design process on a range of high-value projects across commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate all design activities from tender through to project completion.
  • Review technical drawings and ensure compliance with Building Regulations, employer's requirements, and project specifications.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to resolve design and construction issues.
  • Lead design reviews and manage information flow between project stakeholders.
  • Implement value engineering opportunities and design solutions that enhance buildability and cost efficiency.
  • Oversee the appointment, performance, and delivery of design consultants and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all design outputs meet quality, safety, and programme requirements.
  • Support project delivery teams with design-related queries and documentation.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years' experience in design management or coordination within a main contracting environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK/Irish Building Regulations and construction processes.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with design management systems and document control procedures
