Are you a passionate and qualified Chef looking for a better work life balance? We are looking for an experienced and passionate Chef to join our team and work in our Residential Care home, willing to work weekends, be passionate about food, setting menus and preparing high-quality, nutritious meals that our residents can truly enjoy helping to make mealtimes one of the highlights of the day. Working with fresh produce, you'll cook high-quality and wholesome dishes, ensuring that every meal is cooked to the highest standards. Cleaning the kitchen to a high standard and have knowledge of HACCAP.
Your Experience and Qualifications
- Personable and Warm: You have a genuine interest in the well-being of our residents and create a warm and welcoming environment.
- Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Confidence engaging with residents to create appetising and nutritious menus
- Experience and knowledge of special dietary requirements/modified diets, advising on nutrition, hydration and dietary needs
- Previous experience working within a budget.
- Experience of stock ordering and management
- Knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety legislation and best practice
- A positive, proactive attitude with strong organisational skills
- Experience working in a care home or healthcare setting is desirable but not essential
- Enhanced DBS check required
Your Role and Responsibilities
- Menu development, tailoring around residents to ensure we deliver person-centred hospitality
- Engages with residents to meet their needs (inc. allergens) and preferences, actively seeking and responding to feedback and suggestions, and makes improvements to the dining experience
- Work with fresh produce to deliver high quality and wholesome dishes cooked of the highest standards
- Prepare, cook and present meals attractively, ensure that the majority of the menu is home cooked with minimal use of convenience foods.
- Bake fresh cakes, scones and breads from scratch
- Order stocks and check deliveries are in line with what was ordered. Ensure all stock is rotated accurately to ensure efficient and economic use of supplies.
- Completes internal/external audits and activities in relation to health and safety, HACCP and COSHH. Manages external visits from EHO, CQC etc.
- Ensure that a high standard of cleanliness is maintained in the main and satellite kitchen, monitor these areas and audit.
- Create a warm, efficient and fun environment
- Attend residents' meetings as they arise to facilitate a quality service to residents. Ensure feedback from resident's meetings is acted upon.
- Ensure personal mandatory training is up to date.
