Nursery Atelierista

This role requires: an Early Years Qualification or the willingness to train for one (Level 3 apprenticeship/EYITT), experience of working in design and as part of a team, experience working with babies is preferred, ability to contribute to plan effective actions for pupils at risk of underachieving and enthusiasm and energy.

Roles and responsibilities

• To provide in-house training on the Reggio approach and continue to expand on their expertise through personal research.
• Work with children on creative experiences using a wide variety of media to encourage ideas, exploration and questions.
• Have responsibility for the operation of the Atelier and work in all other areas of the Nursery, including outdoors as necessary.
• Provide a stimulating environment for children to work on long-term projects (referred to as progettazione). These are part of our emergent curriculum; there are no time constraints, they are ongoing and are open-ended so as to offer extensions and multiple possibilities.
• Create working groups, the Atelierista and children are co-learners, collaborators and co-researchers.
• To be vigilant and protect children from harm or abuse, reporting any concerns immediately, in accordance with child protection and whistleblowing policies.
