Job Summary

At our Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft.

We are seeking a new CAM Engineer to join our Components Business - Machining team, where we undertake the manufacture of Metallic Aircraft components using a range of processes such as 4 / 5 axis to produce Hard and soft metal machining processes.

The new Manufacturing Engineer will be experienced with CAM & Simulation software with knowledge of Siemens and Fanuc controls.

The successful applicant will work a 4.5 day week, including flexi-time in a full-time permanent capacity, equating to a 35 hour week as part of a small team of Manufacturing Engineers.

How You'll Contribute

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for process & solution within our automated machining area
  • Deploy these processes with a high degree of process capability utilizing the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite to demonstrate as such
  • Be responsible for technical support of manufacturing development and integration for production. Resolve issues pertaining to vendor quality
  • Provide specialist knowledge to production activities with the ultimate goal of improving efficiency, product quality and the reduction of non-conforming parts
  • Exemplify a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards
  • Be responsible for the development of technical solutions to complex problems within GKN Aerospace, our customers and suppliers
  • Deliver technical support of manufacturing process development and integration for production
  • Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances
  • Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers
  • Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives

Essential:

  • Usage of Catia v5 CAM and Vericut within a Manufacturing environment
  • HNC/ONC in Manufacturing Engineering or relevant experience of multi-axis NC Programming
  • Ability to read and understand engineering manufacturing drawings and technical documents
  • Experience using IT packages such as MS Office

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of, and ability to use and implement LEAN tools and techniques
  • Experience using SAP or similar business software
