Overview

We're looking for a compassionate, confident, and skilled Maths and English Tutor to join our high-impact team in Reading. In this role, you'll be working in-person with Primary and GCSE students, providing targeted support in Maths and English, with a strong focus on special educational needs (SEN).

You'll be working with students who need more than just traditional teaching - they need someone with patience, structure, and a strong understanding of how to adapt learning to meet their needs.

Duties

  • Provide 1:1 in-person tutoring sessions to children with SEN (ages 7–16)
  • Teach both Maths and English, adapting delivery for varied learning styles
  • Develop personalised learning plans and track student progress
  • Foster a calm, supportive, and motivating learning environment
  • Stay updated on educational best practices and resources to enhance tutoring effectiveness.
  • Follow safeguarding and data protection policies consistently

Requirements

  • 1+ years experience working with children with SEN (EHCPs, Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, etc.)
  • A deep understanding of differentiation and behaviour support strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to educate and inspire students, fostering a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Able to work onsite in Reading (Tilehurst)
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS

Desirable, but not required

  • Teaching assistant background or education support experience
  • Familiarity with common SEN interventions
  • Calm, proactive, and confident managing emotional or behavioural challenges
  • Experience using reward systems, structured learning plans, and visual aids
