Role Purpose
We are recruiting for an Up2U Case Officer to deliver the Up2U Creating Healthy Relationships programme to those who use domestically abusive behaviours in their intimate relationships. This will involve working with individuals who are seeking to change their behaviour to improve their existing and future relationships and reducing the risks of them being involved in future incidents of domestic abuse. The programme seeks to improve the chances of them having regular healthy contact with their children, creating better outcomes for the whole family unit. The successful candidate must have experience in working in a team and be familiar with the Microsoft suite including MS Teams, Excel and Outlook. We are looking for an upbeat and positive person who enjoys supporting others and working in a trauma-informed way to reduce the harm caused by domestic abuse. Whilst this is a role managed by BCP Council the successful candidate will mostly cover the geographic area of North and East Dorset Council area.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead on delivering domestic abuse prevention work with perpetrators of domestic abuse using approaches, specifically the Up2U Creating Healthy Relationships programme, that demonstrate a clear understanding of the detrimental effects of abuse, particularly on children.
- Conduct pre-assessments with potential service users to assess their suitability for the programme and take appropriate action with referring officers if necessary, including highlighting alternative programmes which may be more suitable.
- Conduct relevant risk assessment and identify and implement appropriate risk mitigation actions.
- Engage with the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) in order to make informed decisions on relevant prevention approaches.
- Work alongside Dorset Police and Children's Services to develop and embed effective triage processes to enhance safeguarding measures.
- To provide expert advice, verbally or in writing, on perpetrator interventions to Dorset Council and statutory Community Safety Partner agencies.
- Work alongside the Dorset Police and the Community Safety Team to develop a Restorative Justice approach to perpetrator interventions.
- Conduct meetings with service users and other professionals as necessary, documenting them accordingly.
- Liaise with other agencies as appropriate, attending core group and case conferences as required.
- Deliver presentations or workshops about the work of the programme, and attend meetings, seminars and conferences as required.
- Lead on the continuous development of domestic abuse perpetrator programmes.
- Collate and record information needed for monitoring and performance purposes.
- Undertake evaluations and questionnaires for men and women using the service.
- Perform as part of the team, attending and participating in regular team meetings and attend appropriate training courses.
- Participate in regular support and supervision.
- At all times adhere to relevant legislation, good practice and policies and procedures, including Pan Dorset Child Protection and Vulnerable Adults policies and procedures.
- Attend line management sessions as requested and to provide information on client work, service delivery and organisations issues to the project team leader.
- Implement decisions agreed in line management meetings.
- Keep up to date with developments in good practice and legislation affect domestic violence and participate in relevant training.
- Support the Head of Community Safety with additional duties required by the project. To undertake such other duties as may be required from time to time commensurate with the level of the post.
- Comply with all decisions, policies and standing orders of the Council and any relevant statutory requirements, including the Equality Act, the Health and Safety at Work Act and Data Protection Act.
The Ideal Candidate
You will have excellent communication skills, previous experience of working with perpetrators of domestic abuse, experience of case management and working in a multi-agency capacity. You must be able to work effectively as part of a team, prioritising your workload with minimal supervision and in assessing complex information to mitigate risk. Excellent interpersonal skills and a flexible approach are also essential.
