Are you a self- driven Business Development professional looking to make a real impact within a small yet growing and purpose-led company?
Do you have experience in electrification or motor drives, and a strong network across Europe – especially Germany or Sweden?
If so, Advanced Electric Machines (AEM) wants to hear from you.
About Us
Founded in 2016 as a spin-out from Newcastle University, Advanced Electric Machines (AEM) is based in Washington, Tyne and Wear—just a short distance from the vibrant cities of Newcastle and Durham.
We design and manufacture cutting-edge, sustainable electric motor and powertrain technologies for global customers. Our rare earth-free solutions are reshaping the future of electrification, helping to leave more copper and rare earth materials in the ground—where they belong.
Backed by a recent seven-figure investment from a Tier 1 global supplier, we're scaling up and expanding our reach. Our technology is trusted, our ambition is bold, and our team is growing.
We have big plans and want to make a difference. Do you?
The Role:
As Senior Business Development Manager, you'll be at the forefront of our European growth strategy. You'll:
- Lead business development efforts across Europe, with a strong focus on Germany and Sweden.
- Travel extensively to meet customers, attend exhibitions, and represent AEM at key industry events.
- Build and manage strong relationships with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and commercial vehicle manufacturers.
- Use market intelligence to shape product development and align with AEM's strategic vision.
- Identify emerging trends, regulatory shifts, and competitive dynamics to keep AEM ahead of the curve.
- Speak a second European language—German preferred—to support relationship-building and market penetration.
What You'll Bring:
- Proven experience in electric motors, transmissions, or related technologies.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling messages.
- Experience working in ISO9001 environments and managing commercial processes.
- A track record of selling into automotive or commercial vehicle sectors, including negotiating supply agreements.
- Fluency in a second European language is essential.
What we Offer:
- A chance to shape the future of sustainable mobility with a company that values innovation and impact.
- Visibility, recognition, and the opportunity to grow with a business that's scaling fast.
- A collaborative, dynamic environment where your ideas matter.
