At TWI, we're looking for a Technician or Senior Technician to join our Mechanical Testing Team within the Materials Performance Laboratories, based at our Abington office. You'll be working in the exciting world of fatigue and resonance testing, helping to deliver high-impact projects for an international customer base with exacting standards.
What You'll Be Doing
- Preparing test samples through grinding, strain gauging, and mechanical assembly.
- Setting up and maintaining servo-hydraulic test machines and modifying test jigs for bespoke and procedural tests.
- Instrumenting tests and using computers for data recording and results compilation.
- Working to strict quality and traceability standards, including maintaining records and supporting Risk and COSHH assessments.
What You Bring
- Experience as an engineering technician with relevant qualifications.
- Strong practical problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings and mechanical systems.
- Experience of working to procedures with strict quality and traceability requirements.
- Bonus points for experience with:
- Manual machining (lathe, drills, bandsaws).
- Welding processes.
- Overhead cranes and abrasive wheels.
- Hand tools and mechanical instrumentation.

Additional Requirements: Due to the nature of some tasks in this role, we do require you to have a Full UK Driving License.
