In this role you will be part of the Thames River Capital (TRC) listed real estate securities team in the Alternatives business of Columbia Threadneedle Investments.  The fund range covers Long Only, Hybrid (direct property + REITs), Market Neutral and Extended Alpha (c.130% long / 30% short) strategies.

You will support the day-to-day portfolio management of the TRC funds, working closely with the team's fund managers and analysts. The role is a blend of operational support, technical development, portfolio analysis and portfolio implementation.  

You will become familiar with the operational processes across the range of TRC funds and take responsibility for the daily oversight of internal and external functions, with a focus on mitigating operational risk.

Separately, you will become responsible for the daily processes of the team's custom portfolio management, trading, research and reporting tools, and contribute to ongoing maintenance and development.  These have been developed within the team using VBA and SQL and integrate with Bloomberg and Aladdin.

You will also monitor the fund range and assist with the practical side of portfolio implementation.  This includes, but is not restricted to, cash and currency management, portfolio rebalancing and exposure monitoring. 

How you'll spend your time…

  • Liaising with internal teams, external custodians, depositories, administrators and prime brokers on valuation and operational issues
  • Reconciliation and investigation of material differences in third party fund valuations
  • Monitoring corporate actions
  • Administration of deposits and loans
  • Continuous development of team systems, tools, and process knowledge
  • Support portfolio management and trading activity in the TRC application – Aladdin workflow.
  • Produce information for management reporting across the range of TRC funds
  • Support RFP, client and sales requests, including maintaining marketing material and supporting data.
  • Ad-hoc analysis supporting fund managers, analysts and sales efforts
  • Support for cash and currency management across the range of funds
  • Monitor the fund range for compliance with mandate and regulatory restrictions
  • Monitor the fund range for exposures relative to target
  • Propose basket trades for subscriptions / redemptions within mandate and strategy constraints.

  • VBA, SQL
  • Strong analytical abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy

It would be great if you also have…

  • Knowledge of equity fund management
  • Experience with Bloomberg and Aladdin
  • Python, PowerShell
  • Investment Management Certificate (IMC) or similar
