Job Title: Operations Manager (Netherlands Site)

Function: Operations

Reports to: Head of Operations

Purpose:

To take responsibility for the inbound/outbound Operations for the Netherlands Walker Logistics site. Directs and controls all of elements of the warehouse operation and works within the operating budget parameters. Works with Direct reports to strategize and maximize productivity for the site. Must analyse trends, solve problems, motivate and develop direct reports to maximize contribution for the site

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for acting in a safe manner and to always protect yourself and others.
  • Drive Warehouse Operation strategy for the Walker Logistics Site.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate staff resources of the Warehouse Operation to ensure customers' orders are within SLA.
  • Resource plan for all direct reports and ensure working within operating budget parameters.
  • Effectively ensure all equipment and hardware standards are met to deliver, KPI's and targets.
  • Develop a strong working relationship with the Account Managers and First Line Managers.
  • To assist in the delivery of the site and wider company objectives.
  • To adhere to site procedures and safe systems of work processes.
  • To follow Safe Systems of Work and ensure training is delivered to anyone carrying out job duties.
  • To conduct weekly Health and Safety audits and ensure completion of all related paperwork.
  • To minimise Unit obstructions and ensure the team are adhering to 'Clean as you go policy'.
  • To report all accidents and near misses no matter how trivial.
  • . To stop a job if you feel it is unsafe to continue and speak to your Line Manager.
  • Ensure all SLA's and KPI's are met.
  • To liaise with relevant departments regarding challenges with quality and KPI's
  • To minimise the receipt and despatch of non-conforming product, across the operation.
  • To ensure communication to your team is clear, concise and delivers maximum output while not compromising safety or quality.
  • Deliver on continuous improvement objectives and ensure a 'from the bottom up' approach is followed.
  • Ensure that all customer SLAs and KPI structures are met daily for accounts across site. Report back to Senior Management on any breaches and provide an action plan to recover.
  • Work closely with senior management to recognise, develop and control operational issues.
  • Lead morning meetings with direct reports to ensure the smooth running of the operation across site including the movement of staff across site if required.
  • Monitor all order and receipts forecasts provided by customers on a weekly/monthly basis and ensure that sufficient resource is in place to allow for success of the customers campaigns.
  • Analyse any trends with accounts on a weekly basis and provide detailed data to senior management team to allow pricing or resource to be considered on a frequent basis.
  • Motivate direct reports to maximize productivity within the warehouse operation and ensure that all operatives are fully utilised.
  • Ensure all direct reports are completing HR requirements for employment.
  • Ensure all direct reports are regularly carrying out one2ones with their team members and all documentation is in line with HR requirements.
  • Ensure all warehouse space is being utilised and make regular assessments on capacity in all units to fully optimise the space and report back to senior management.
  • Maintain and provide a "plan for the future" to include any movements of clients within the units, any new customers that are in the pipeline.
  • Work and maintain WMS Chess system to ensure maximum productivity.
  • Ensure that all direct reports have regular one2ones with you and all development plans for the employee are documented in line with HR Requirements
  • Authorise warehouse employees holiday requests and monitor the levels per day and ensure that all employees are aware of their entitlement.
  • Monitor and authorise any overtime requirements ensuring that costs are covered at all times.
  • Complete weekly Agency timesheets and control Agency spend at all times.
  • Working with your direct reports to ensure that Kronos is accurately recording all activity by all team members including themselves to optimise on revenue for the Company.
  • Ensure that all direct reports carry out return to work for all employees and they are accurately recorded and are on time.
  • Monitor and manage all absence within your team and ensure all records are accurate.
  • Monitor and control booking in diary for receipts team to ensure that this is working efficiently.
  • Work with onsite and offsite trainers to ensure staff are trained to carry out the workload effectively.
  • Ensure all H&S requirements on site are followed.
  • Work closely with the Senior Management team on budgetary controls for the warehouse at all times including packaging and consumables supply.
  • In unison with H&S Manager and direct reports ensure that all units are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and are free from mess.
  • Conduct warehouse tours when requested by Senior Management for current or potential/new customers.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (HB)/WO) in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or similar
  • Experience managing warehouse or logistics operations
  • Proven track record in meeting KPI's, SLA's and operational targets
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems (e.g. WMS Chess)

  • Strong leadership and team management skills; able to motivate and develop staff.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge or health & safety regulations, and warehouse operations.

  • Fluency in Dutch and English preferred.
