To help us to further develop, our busy, community focused café, we are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Cook to join our team. As a Cook, you will play a crucial role in the success of our café through the production of the good quality food that our customers have come to expect and through the sharing of ideas for cost-effective enhancements.

Responsibilities include:

· Prepare and serve food to a good standard, ensuring a high level of hygiene and presentation.

· Review and advise on improvements to the daily menu which will interest our clientele, be cost effective and minimise food wastage.

· Produce good quality cakes and traybakes.

· Prepare and place supplies orders and update inventory, ensuring appropriate stock levels are maintained at all times.

· Continually review equipment and surroundings to ensure that the facilities remain fit for purpose.

· Ensure that required records are kept up to date – food safety & allergens, cleaning tasks etc).

· Arrange safe food storage and monitor appropriate stock rotation.

· Maintain a high level of cleanliness of the kitchen and storage areas

· Ensure that food hygiene and health & safety policies are followed at all times and take the lead in the compilation and submission of food standard certification.

· Support the ethos of Wesley's in helping to develop our volunteers to become the best they can be, in the hope of securing paid employment in the hospitality sector

Required skills:

· Minimum Level 2 Food & Hygiene

· At least 2 years proven experience as a cook in a professional, high-volume kitchen

· Evidence of good baking

· Up to date knowledge of H&S legislation

· Comprehensive understanding of food hygiene laws and best practice.
