The Cross Keys Inn, a historic and charming pub nestled in the heart of the Penrith community, is looking for a dedicated and creative Chef to join our fantastic kitchen team. As a gateway to the stunning Lake District, we pride ourselves on offering a warm welcome, quality ales, and delicious, home cooked food that celebrates the best of Cumbrian produce.

About the Role:

As a key member of our kitchen, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and cooking our menu of hearty pub classics and seasonal specials to the highest standard.
  • Working with the Head Chef to contribute ideas for new dishes and menu development.
  • Managing your section efficiently during busy services, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Maintaining impeccable standards of kitchen hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety in line with all regulations.
  • Working collaboratively with both the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure a smooth and positive service for our guests.

Who We're Looking For:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or a similar role in a busy, fresh-food environment.
  • A genuine passion for cooking and a flair for creating delicious, well-presented dishes.
  • The ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
  • A strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a commitment to being a team player.
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices (Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate minimum).
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a professional approach to your work.
