Junior Product Analyst

Department: Mortgages

Reporting To: Head of product Mortgages


Description The core purpose of the Junior Product Analyst role is to learn and develop skills to gather, report and analyse data, from both internal and external data inputs.   This is to help support a range of strategic, commercial and governance processes, and will provide the data that will help the Head of Mortgage Product to design and develop changes to the product range to ensure we are achieving volume and value targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • To produce Product Performance reporting for use within the Mortgage team and across the wider Chetwood team. 
  • This data is to be extracted from Chetwood's data warehouse and from external data sources. 
  • To produce market / competitor analysis of Chetwood's product pricing vs those of select competitors. 
  • To produce market / competitor analysis of Chetwood's credit policy / product eligibility compared to those of select competitors.
  • To support product and proposition developments, via the Head of Mortgage Product, through the provision of relevant data analysis e.g. market or competitor activity in areas of potential new product development.
  • To assist the product manager with key relationships with the finance team to develop and maintain product profitability models for each Chetwood mortgage product. 
  • To assist the product manager with key relationships with the credit risk and operational teams to support the develop and expansion of the mortgage proposition each Chetwood mortgage brand.   
  • Prepare regular reporting packs for governance and trading meetings on a daily, weekly or monthly basis as required.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Strong analytical skills enabling the organisation and interpretation of internal and external data sources
  • Strong skills in MS Office products used in analysing and reporting data.
  • The willingness to learn how to query internal databases using SQL, Python or similar, would be desirable.
  • A keen interest in the mortgage market, the products, the policies and our principal competitors.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills necessary, so as to convey the key insights from data gathered and analysed.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills so as to meet all reporting deadlines.
